ZHENGZHOU, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The main bridge structure of the Yingbin Avenue railway-crossing overpass project in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, undertaken by China Railway 25th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., has been completed, according to China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) on Monday. As the control project with the highest safety risk and the most railway lines crossed on the entire route, the bridge has built a new passage above two major high-speed railway arteries, overcoming the most difficult hurdle in the construction of the zone's external transport "lifeline" and laying a solid foundation for the full opening of Yingbin Avenue.
Yingbin Avenue is a core channel of the "four vertical and three horizontal" trunk road network in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone. It connects the airport expressway toll station in the west and Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport in the east, linking the two major comprehensive transport hubs of Xinzheng Airport and Zhengzhou South Railway Station and undertaking the functions of airport passenger and cargo distribution.
The railway-crossing overpass section under construction is 496.7 meters long. Both the main bridge and the ground roads are designed with eight lanes in each direction, crossing above the existing operational lines of the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-speed Railway and the Jizheng-Nanning intercity railway. Construction organization is difficult and safety risks are high. The daily maintenance window is only about four hours, there are many cross-operations adjacent to operational lines, and the box girder pouring process has high requirements.
"Construction across existing operational lines has a tight maintenance window. The sequence and timing of each procedure must be precisely controlled to ensure both the schedule and safety," said Wang Jinlun, project manager of China Railway 25th Bureau. Facing multiple challenges, the project team adhered to the principle of plan first, focused on the core risk of high-speed railway crossing construction, and strictly implemented maintenance window operations, dual-line protection, anti-intrusion facilities, on-site supervision and railway-enterprise joint control to ensure the safety of both construction and high-speed railway operations.
Upon completion and opening to traffic, Yingbin Avenue will effectively break through the bottlenecks in connecting aviation, high-speed rail and rail transit networks, make the connection between Xinzheng International Airport and Zhengzhou South Railway Station more close and efficient, provide strong support for improving the quality and efficiency of the comprehensive three-dimensional transport system, further enhance the radiation capacity of Zhengzhou as a national central city, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of Zhengzhou-Xuchang integration.
